The Problem

Course registration shouldn't require five browser tabs.

Students waste hours cross-referencing rating sites during a process that should take minutes.

Endless Research

Students bounce between their registration portal and rating websites dozens of times per semester, losing time and focus with every tab switch.

Hidden Information

Critical professor data is buried on separate platforms, with no connection to the actual courses you're considering — making it easy to overlook entirely.

Stressful Decisions

Choosing the wrong section can derail an entire semester. Students deserve better information at the exact moment they need to make the call.

The Solution

Everything you need,
right where you register.

Class Compass pulls professor ratings from Rate My Professors and displays them inline — no tab switching, no searching, no friction.

Professor Ratings

See the overall quality score from Rate My Professors displayed directly beside each instructor's name in your course search — without ever leaving the page.

Difficulty Scores

Know how demanding a course will be before you enroll. Difficulty ratings help you balance your semester and plan your workload with realistic expectations.

Would Take Again

See what percentage of students would enroll with the same professor again. This single metric often captures satisfaction better than a raw number alone.

Review Counts

Instantly see whether a rating comes from 5 reviews or 500. A 5.0 from three reviews is very different from a 4.8 from 300 — and now you'll always know the difference.

How It Works

Three steps. Zero friction.

Class Compass runs automatically in the background. You don't need to configure anything.

1

Open Your Course Search

Navigate to your university's course registration page as you normally would. Class Compass activates automatically.

2

Compass Finds Instructors

The extension identifies professor names on the page and silently matches them against the Rate My Professors database.

3

Ratings Appear Instantly

Scores, difficulty, review counts, and would-take-again percentages appear directly beside each instructor. Click any rating to open their full profile.

Supported Universities

Works where you already register.

Class Compass is built specifically for each university's registration interface, so ratings slot in perfectly every time.

What students are saying.

"

I used to spend 30 minutes every registration period just looking up professors. Class Compass cut that down to seconds. I actually enrolled in better classes this semester because of it.

The difficulty score alone was worth it. I was about to take a class with a 4.8 professor who turned out to have a 4.9 difficulty rating. Avoided a rough semester thanks to this extension.

Simple, fast, and it just works. I recommended it to everyone in my major. There's no reason to register without it if your school is supported.

FAQ

Common questions.

How accurate are the ratings?
+

Class Compass pulls data directly from Rate My Professors — the same source you'd check manually. Accuracy depends on the number of reviews a professor has received. We display the review count so you always know how much weight to give any given rating. A professor with 200 reviews is a much more reliable signal than one with 4.

Do I need a Rate My Professors account?
+

No. Class Compass reads publicly available rating data and displays it for you. You don't need an account on Rate My Professors or anywhere else. Just install the extension and it works immediately on supported university sites.

Does Class Compass collect student data?
+

No. Class Compass does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. The extension only reads professor names from your registration page to match them with ratings. It does not access your student ID, grades, schedule, or any other account information.

What universities are currently supported?
+

Class Compass currently works with Sam Houston State University, the University of Houston, the University of Texas at Arlington, and Lone Star College System. We're actively adding more schools — submit a request on our site to have your university prioritized for the next release.

Is Class Compass free?
+

Yes. Class Compass is completely free to install and use. There's no subscription, no sign-up required, and no premium tier. We built it to solve a real problem and we want every student to have access to it.
