Class Compass does not require an account and does not request your name, email address, student ID, login credentials, or academic records.
To retrieve a rating, the extension sends the displayed professor name and a school identifier to the Class Compass rating service. The service may record the requested professor name in operational logs and caches normalized professor names with their publicly available rating information. Our hosting provider also processes standard network information, such as your IP address, as necessary to deliver the request.

We do not use analytics tools, advertising pixels, or tracking scripts within the extension. We do not intentionally store your IP address in the Class Compass application database, although our hosting provider may process or retain standard network logs under its own policies.
When you navigate to a supported university course search page, Class Compass does the following:
Class Compass only activates on the specific course search pages of supported universities. It does not run on any other websites, and it does not monitor your general browsing activity.
Clicking a rating badge opens that professor's Rate My Professors profile page in a new tab. At that point, you are subject to Rate My Professors' own privacy policy and terms of service.
Class Compass retrieves professor rating data from Rate My Professors. This data is publicly available and does not require authentication. Class Compass is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rate My Professors.
The Class Compass rating service is hosted by Render. Render processes requests to the service and may process standard network and operational data under its own privacy and retention policies. Requests from our service to Rate My Professors include the professor name being searched, but do not include your university credentials or browser session data.
We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not sell data.
The extension does not cache professor ratings in browser local storage. The Class Compass rating service maintains a server-side cache containing normalized professor names and corresponding public rating information so repeated lookups do not require another request to Rate My Professors.
Operational logs may temporarily include requested professor names and standard request information. We do not maintain user profiles or associate cached ratings with a student, account, course schedule, or university login.
Class Compass is designed for use by college students and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly request or create profiles containing personal information from anyone under 13. The extension is intended for and marketed exclusively to a university-age audience.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users through our browser extension listings or website.
Continued use of Class Compass after any changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of those changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
